Premier Campbell Newman Sings Praises of TEQ’s new VIC Applicaiton
Premier Campbell Newman recently published a joint Media release discussing Tourism and Events Queensland’s (TEQ) newly launched Visitor Information Centre (VIC) application that aims to help tourists locate Queensland Accredited Information Centres on their smartphone device.
Visitor information centres have been recognised for the significant role they play in Queensland’s tourism industry by providing high quality information in the tourism sector that helps boost local economy with recommendations that encourage tourists to stay longer, spend more money, experience more attractions and revisit a region.
In the release Newman notes, “It will revolutionise the way visitors connect with our tourism operators and are central to revitalising an industry that was neglected by Labor. Initiatives like this will help us increase visitor numbers and double annual overnight visitor expenditure from $15 billion to $30 billion by 2020.”
The three biggest user benefits of the app is to:
- Find contact details for Queensland Accredited Visitor Information Centres
- Locate the three closest Accredited Visitor Information Centres when holidaying in Queensland
- Search for local tips and recommendations on what to do based on your holiday location
The VIC application is now available for free download on iTunes and Google Play.
